What to Buy a New Mum: Thoughtful Gifts That Are Just for Her

When a new baby arrives, it's only natural that so much of the excitement and so many of the presents center around the gorgeous new arrival.
Tiny clothes, blankets, cuddly toys and keepsakes are all lovely however lately I've been thinking more about the person on the other side of it all too, us Mums.
I'm a mummy myself and currently expecting our second baby shortly, so perhaps it's no surprise that this is an area of gifting that's becoming particularly close to my heart.
Those first days and weeks with a new baby are incredibly special, but they're so full on with sleepless nights, endless feeds, visitors, washing and adjusting to a completely new routine all whilst you are recovering and finding your feet too.
Sometimes, amongst all the lovely presents for baby, it's nice to receive something that's simply for her.
A little something just for Mum
I've only just started thinking about introducing new mum gifts at Tilly's, so I don't want to rush out and create a huge new range ahead of Christmas.
Instead, I've started by looking at our existing collection and choosing the hampers that I think would make particularly lovely gifts for new mums and mums-to-be and it's something I can look at further in the new year.

Our A Little Moment of Calm Hamper felt like a natural place to start.
Filled with tea, biscuits and little self-care treats, it's all about encouraging someone to take a little time for themselves – even if that moment only lasts ten minutes!

You certainly don't have to wait until baby arrives.
As I get closer to welcoming our second baby at the end of this year, I know only too well that the final few weeks of pregnancy are a funny mixture of excitement, anticipation and trying to get absolutely everything organised before the big day!
A thoughtful gift during that time can mean a lot.
It could be something to open at a baby shower, a surprise to mark the beginning of maternity leave, or simply a little parcel arriving at the door to say I'm thinking of you.
And there's something particularly lovely about knowing that the present has been chosen specifically for Mum.
An area I'd love Tilly's to explore
This little collection is only the beginning.
Tilly's started with my love of bringing together brilliant food and drink from British brands and independent producers to create gifts that feel genuinely lovely to receive.
That's not going anywhere.
But I've always wanted Tilly's to become somewhere you can visit when you want to send a really thoughtful gift, whatever the occasion.
As my own family grows, new mum, mum-to-be and eventually baby gifting is an area I'm becoming increasingly interested in, and one I would really love to explore further with Tilly's.
For now, I'm starting small with some of my favourite hampers from our existing collection. Over time, I'd love to discover more brilliant British brands and introduce carefully chosen products and gifts specifically for mums, mums-to-be and little ones.
I don't want to add things simply for the sake of having a bigger range. Whatever comes next needs to feel like Tilly's thoughtful, beautifully presented and something I would genuinely be delighted to give to one of my own friends.
So consider this the beginning of something I'm excited to explore.
Sometimes it's lovely to make a new Mum feel a little special too.
